Appointments & Booking

How do I book an appointment?

Appointments can be booked online by selecting your preferred Registered Massage Therapist and following the link to their booking calendar. Each therapist’s availability, services and treatment locations will be shown during the booking process.


Which Lakewood location should I choose?

Lakewood operates from two nearby locations on Tecumseh Road East: our Massage Clinic and our Wellness Centre. The location of your appointment will be clearly shown when you book and in your confirmation email. Please check this information before arriving.


How do I choose the right massage therapist?

You can learn more about each therapist’s experience, approach and areas of interest on our therapist pages. From there, you can book directly with the therapist who feels like the best fit for you.


Do you accept walk-ins?

Our services are provided by appointment. Booking ahead ensures that your preferred therapist, treatment time or wellness service is available.


What if I cannot find an appointment online?

Our schedules can change due to cancellations or added availability. Please join our waitlist, and we’ll contact you if a suitable time becomes available.


What is your cancellation policy?

We require at least 24 hours’ notice when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment. Late cancellations and missed appointments may be subject to a cancellation fee. Please review our full Cancellation Policy before booking.

Payments & Insurance

Do you accept health insurance?

We accept health insurance benefits for eligible Registered Massage Therapy services. Coverage and reimbursement depend on your individual insurance plan. Please check with your provider to confirm your coverage and whether a referral is required.


What other forms of payment do you accept?

We accept payment by debit, credit card, cash and e-transfer. Payment is due at the time of your appointment.


Please check with your individual therapist or contact the clinic before your appointment to confirm whether direct billing is available. When direct billing is unavailable, you will receive a receipt to submit to your insurance provider.

Do you offer direct billing?

Will I receive a receipt for insurance purposes?

Yes. If, for some reason we can’t submit for you, you will receive an official receipt. After your appointment that can be submitted to your extended health insurance provider. Coverage varies, so we recommend checking the details of your plan.

Massage Therapy

Do I need a Doctor’s referral?

You do not need a referral to receive massage therapy. However, some extended health insurance plans require one for reimbursement. Please check the requirements of your individual plan.


Are your massage therapists registered?

Yes. Massage therapy treatments are provided by Registered Massage Therapists in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.


Can massage therapy be claimed as a tax deduction?

Massage therapy expenses may be eligible for a medical expense tax credit if you meet the requirements set by the Canada Revenue Agency. We recommend keeping your official receipts and consulting a qualified tax professional or reviewing the current CRA guidelines to determine whether your expenses qualify.


Do you accept WSIB or motor vehicle accident insurance claims?

No. Lakewood Massage & Wellness does not accept WSIB claims or motor vehicle accident insurance claims. Clients are responsible for payment at the time of their appointment. We will provide an official receipt that you may submit to the appropriate insurer if reimbursement is available under your policy.


What should I expect during my first appointment?

Your therapist will review your health history, discuss your concerns and treatment goals, and explain the recommended treatment approach. You will always have an opportunity to ask questions before treatment begins.


What should I wear for my massage?

Wear whatever makes you comfortable. Your therapist will explain your options based on the type of treatment being provided. You may remain fully or partially clothed, and professional draping is always used.


Do I have to remove all of my clothing?

No. You should undress only to your personal level of comfort. Only the area being treated will be uncovered, and you may change your mind or ask your therapist to adjust the treatment at any time.


Can I request changes during my treatment?

Absolutely. We encourage you to let your therapist know if you would like changes to the pressure, positioning, temperature, music or treatment plan. Your comfort and consent remain important throughout the entire appointment.


Can I receive massage therapy while pregnant?

Yes. Prenatal massage can be safely adapted for different stages of pregnancy. Please include your pregnancy information on your health history form and speak with your therapist about any concerns or medical considerations.


What if I have a medical condition or recent injury?

Please include all relevant health information on your health history form and discuss it with your therapist before treatment. Depending on your condition, your therapist may modify the treatment or recommend that you consult your healthcare provider first.

Forms, Consent & Privacy

Do I need to complete a health history form?

Yes. New massage therapy clients must complete a health history form before treatment. Keeping this information accurate and up to date helps your therapist provide appropriate and safe care.


Why am I being asked to sign an agreement or consent form?

Certain clinic policies and treatments require your acknowledgement or written consent. These forms help ensure that you understand the service, your choices and the clinic’s policies before proceeding.


Is my personal information kept private?

Yes. Your personal and health information is handled confidentially and in accordance with applicable Ontario privacy requirements.

Red Light Therapy & Infrared Sauna

Where are the wellness services located?

Red light therapy and infrared sauna sessions are offered at the Lakewood Wellness Centre. Your appointment confirmation will include the correct location information.


What should I wear for red light therapy?

Wear whatever allows you to comfortably expose the areas you would like treated. Specific instructions will be provided before your session, and your privacy will be respected at all times.


What should I wear in the infrared sauna?

Light, comfortable clothing or appropriate sauna attire is recommended. You may also want to bring water and allow time to cool down after your session.


How should I prepare for a wellness session?

Arrive well hydrated and follow any preparation instructions included with your booking. Avoid attending if you are feeling unwell. If you have a health condition, take medication or are pregnant, speak with your healthcare provider before using red light therapy or an infrared sauna.


Are red light therapy and infrared sauna services covered by insurance?

These wellness services are generally not covered under Registered Massage Therapy benefits. Please contact your insurance provider directly if you are unsure about your coverage.
